Base London receive queen's award for enterprise

British men’s footwear brand Base London has today, 21 April 2016, been announced as a winner of a coveted 2016 Queen’s Award for International Trade. 

 

Base London is one of a few select businesses to be awarded the UK’s highest accolade for business success in this special year when the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday. The Award has been received in recognition of growth and success in international trade over the previous three years.

 

“Since the launch of Base London we have been committed not only to driving our sales and brand awareness in new international markets, but have also passionately flown the flag for the great work delivered by the UK in terms of contemporary men’s footwear,” said Base London chairman, David Conibere.  “To have our efforts recognised by Her Majesty The Queen is thrilling for everyone at Base London. To receive the Award in the year that Her Majesty celebrates her 90th birthday, and the same year that Base London notches its 21st anniversary, is the icing on the cake.”

 

Base London was launched in 1995 with a vision of introducing quality, trend-led branded footwear to the British market. At that time the choice of branded footwear options available to consumers was relatively narrow with the market then dominated by high street chains at one end of the sector and designer brands at the other.

 

As a firmly established market leader in the UK, expansion strategy in recent years for the company has focused on overseas markets. Since 2009, Base London has been committed to identifying new markets via exploratory overseas shows and market intelligence trips, before establishing sales infrastructures, targeting key stockists and driving new distribution channels in its international markets.

 

Today, Base London is sold through 20 countries with global sales of over £10million.

 

In celebration of Base London’s 21st anniversary, the brand has created its most ambitious and contemporary collection to date. A tribute to the rich heritage of the brand first established in 1995, the new XXI collection represents the pinnacle of design and quality from Base London, and underlines how far the brand has developed in its 21 years.
